Active Solutions for Preserving Internet ContentWelcomeThe International Internet Preservation Consortium was founded in 2003 by 12 institutions who acknowledged the importance of international collaboration for preserving Internet Content for future generations. This group chartered the IIPC to fund and participate in projects and working groups to accomplish the goals of the consortium, which include:
Now 38 members strong, the IIPC has focused its work in the last three years on four major areas: Harvesting, Access, Standards, and Preservation. Much of the content we will hear today is the result of the work of the IIPC Preservation Working Group members. We come together today, taking advantage of the synergy between the wide-ranging preservation interests of the iPRES community, who met here the last two days, and the focused interest and work of the IIPC community in preserving web archives. We’d like to thank the organizers of iPRES and our colleagues at the California Digital Library for their support during the planning of this event, and the IIPC program committee who helped select the program. |
