Press Release / February 26, 2007 International Internet Preservation Consortium Announces Its First General Assembly MeetingThe International Internet Preservation Consortium, formed in 2003 to foster international collaboration for preserving Internet content for future generations, announces its first general assembly meeting April 18-20, 2007, at the Bibliotheque nationale de France in Paris, France. The general assembly is open to all new and returning Consortium members, and will feature a variety of presentations, workshops, and training opportunities. Presentations will focus on pioneer efforts in Web archiving, experiences collecting content related to national elections, and more. Workshops and training opportunities on tools such as the Heritrix Web crawler and Wayback Machine access tool will be provided. The assembly will provide opportunities for new members to become involved in the work of the Consortium. Consortium working groups will discuss policies and methods for Internet archiving, as well as carry out projects to develop specific tools and standards. Led by the Bibliotheque nationale de France, the Consortium is open to libraries, archives, museums and cultural heritage institutions everywhere that are interested in collecting and preserving Internet content. Membership and general information can be found on the IIPC website: http://netpreserve.org. Membership for the current period will be accepted through April 1, 2007.
