The mission of the IIPC is to acquire, preserve and make accessible knowledge and information from the Internet for future generations everywhere. This means:
- Supporting the collection of content into web archives.
- Creating tools to collect, preserve and give access to web archives.
- Holding international events to support these aims.
Around 160 international participants will be coming together in Wellington to discuss latest trends, innovations, development and best practice in web archiving. These participants are users, researchers and developers from libraries, universities, archives and private companies.
They will be addressing issues such as:
- What is the role of web archives in the current “fake news” environment?
- Why do we collect web archives?
- Who uses them now and who will use them in the future?
- What tools are needed?
