The Smithsonian Institution Archives (SIA), as part of the Smithsonian Libraries and Archives (SLA), serves as the institutional memory of a unique cultural organization. The Smithsonian launched its first homepage in 1995. SIA started collecting website files in 1998 and has continued using various methods to capture Smithsonian websites and social media in the 2000s through today. These sites serve as the public face of the Institution and document a rich history.
