Webrecorder provides a suite of open source tools and packages to capture interactive websites as high fidelity archives and replay them at a later time as accurately as possible. The Webrecorder project builds tools that specialize in a user-driven form of web archiving, where the user is able to direct the archiving process through their own browser, or use a crawler to drive browsers in the background. Webrecorder’s open source tools work with a variety of existing storage options and services. In addition to advancing web archive capture and replay, the Webrecorder project is focused on advancing open source software development and research in a few areas including web archive formats such as WACZ, decentralized technologies, and the intersection of web archives and software emulation.
