IIPC TSS Webinar: Trove under the hood: Integrating the Australian Web Archive

The IIPC Technical Speaker Series (TSS) facilitates knowledge sharing and foster conversations and collaborations among IIPC members around web archiving technical work. During this webinar, Alex Osborne, Web Archive Technical Lead at the National Library of Australia, will talk about Trove. Trove is a national discovery service which helps users find and explore the content of Australian libraries, museums and archives whether digital or physical. At the core of Trove is a Solr-based search engine but under its umbrella also live delivery systems, data harvesters, APIs and a community of users helping improve the quality of Australia’s historical collections. This webinar will begin with a technical overview of how the broader Trove service works and then dive into more details about the Australian Web Archive specifically. Touching on areas like user experience, hardware, relevance ranking and challenges reconciling diverse collections.

About the speaker

There aren’t too many aspects of the digital library that Alex Osborne hasn’t touched in one way or another in his dozen years at the National Library of Australia. Alex is the technical lead for web archiving and also a troublemaker^W troubleshooter in the Library’s IT Operations team.
